The Virtual Cafe

17 08 2009

Been thinking about the future of Cafe TweetSpot and what it could really become. Getting our own website going will allow us to really build in the kind of functionality that will make Cafe TweetSpot the place to hang out for budding entrepreneurs. I envision a website filled with virtual “tables” or “conversations”. It should be easy, and I personally think its absolutely key, to maintain the twitter-like feel and allow people to use twitter to participate even once we have our own site.

You’ll be able to search for tables based on certain keywords like the words used in twitters about that conversation. You’ll be able to easily start new conversations and hope someone comes to join you. When your search returns a table, you’ll see the original twitter message and the icons of the other people “at the table.” Not all conversations will turn up in a search though. You will have the option to “find a corner” i.e. make your conversation private to the people already in it. Users will join a table as either idea generators, idea improvers, or idea funders and you will be able to open your conversation to just people of a certain type, like allowing just idea funders if your idea is ready for real work to get started, or exclude just idea generators if you don’t want to share original credit with anyone else.

I got ideas coming out my ears today. Surely more to come later.

No One Else Is Doing This

17 08 2009

I’ve looked and looked, and all I keep turning up are old-school business networking sites that really aren’t the same idea at all, and other sites, probably scams, which claim to have developed software that can somehow turn you into an idea generator without you actually having to, I don’t know, think of ideas. What a joke!

Help us get started on twitter while I look into developing the full potential here. Every idea counts, and heck, I’ll probably comment on it if no one else does :) .

Business Brainstorming

17 08 2009

That’s what you should think of the purpose of Cafe TweetSpot. Its a place for people to toss around ideas, most of which will come to nothing, but a few of which will meet fruition that never would have been developed or noticed without the work of the crowd. Could your little idea be one that makes it? Tweet your concept to our twitter by typing @CafeTweetSpot in front of it. Someone you don’t even know may be inspired by your idea, and you can work together at CafeTweetSpot to build a profitable enterprise and buzz for your idea.

I think the network effects will begin to take hold somewhere between 50-100 active idea posters. Don’t be shy with your ideas, the only bad ideas are the ones that aren’t discussed. So think of us whenever random ideas pop into your head in a moment of free time, distraction, or daydreaming. It just takes a second, and someone could be ready to help you take that thought to the finish line.

If your interesting in news about our developing Cafe, follow our twitter. Our motto is Ideas Welcome, and that includes ideas to improve ourselves.

Hello and Welcome to Cafe TweetSpot!

16 08 2009

Hi everybody, welcome to Cafe TweetSpot.  Cafe TweetSpot is the official blog of a social media based company I created today.  Right now we’re in our infancy, but if we start growing in popularity we can quickly begin to enhance our service.  The core idea behind Cafe Tweet Spot is that people have ideas all the time, big ideas and small ideas.

Cafe TweetSpot’s primary function is to be a resource for three kinds of people.  First there are the people with ideas.  People come up with ideas all the time, but rarely act on them because they feel that they lack the expertise or access to funds to pursue their ideas, are simply risk-averse and unsure if their ideas are any good, or simply haven’t realized the breakthrough that turns their small idea into a big one.  Second there are the venture capitalists, who constantly complain that their profit margins are being pressured by too much money and too many firms chasing too few ideas.  These people are professionals at knowing a good idea when they hear it.  And finally, there are educated businessmen and women in consulting, technology, and even blue-chip industry among other fields with the expertise to flesh out business plans and execute them if only brought in contact with the ideas and resources necessary.

So if you’ve got a sudden, perhaps not even fully-baked idea, tweet a public message to Cafe TweetSpot’s twitter account just by typing @CafeTweetSpot at the beginning of your idea.  I would suggest beginning your tweet with @CafeTweetSpot #IdeaCategory  Short description of idea, Link to More.  The Link should go to a blog or some other resource with more space to expand on your idea.  Here’s where things get interesting- people who like your idea and think it could make money should copy your message and retweet it themselves.  Then by searching for @CafeTweetSpot you can look at a list of all the most recent ideas, and ideas that are more popular and have more active development will be more likely to appear.  By following the link, people who see the tweet or retweet can go to the original tweeters blog and comment on, improve, and constructively criticise the business idea.  Commenters should always retweet so that we can keep track of active ideas, but don’t feel like you have to comment on or have an improvement to every idea you retweet.  You might simply like to see that service offered, and whatever your reasons for retweeting an idea, you will still help good ideas “float” to the top of the pile.  As Cafe TweetSpot becomes more robust, we’ll try to improve this “floating” mechanism, but the basis is already there in twitter for using the wisdom, desires, and needs of crowds to find and develop worthy new products and services.

And that’s where the rubber meets the road.  Good ideas will float to the top, where they are more likely to be noticed by venture capitalists.  Meanwhile, popular ideas will already have a significant presence on twitter for their future marketing needs.  Think of it as a business idea incubator.  By the time you and those who are first impressed with and most inspired by your idea nugget are near a complete business plan you will have a ready made fan base and are likely to be able to find funding if the idea ends up being worth pursuing.

Its easy, free, and carries no risk.  Instead of forgetting about your random thought or idea, submit your ideas and let the community sift through them for the real gems.  All you do is tweet and search for @Cafe Tweet Spot and your mustard seed of an idea could grow into a mighty money tree.
